Thanks for bringing this up. I've just updated the chirp package in the
Ubuntu Hams PPA to version (0.4.1-1.0) -- the version uploaded to Debian
unstable on 2014-11-03 -- which appears to include the fix for the issue
you're describing:
* new upstream version fixing critical issue with some Baofeng radios
(Closes: #767029)
Darxus and Joshua, please confirm that the 0.4.1-1.0 version now in the
ubuntu-hams-updates/ppa does indeed resolve the problem. The PPA
updates are for Precise, Trusty, and Utopic (Vivid and Wily already
carry that chirp version):
