Message #00008
emacs for translation
Hello team,
I might as well admit it now - I'm an emacs-holic. There seemed to be
good vibes about using emacs to productively bulk-edit translation
files, so I investigated. There is a small po file download link in the
attached email. You can get it if you're curious.
Anyway if Emacs is your editor-du-jour, then you need the package
gettext-el installed:
sudo apt-get install gettext-el
If you haven't got emacs installed, it might get pulled in as a
dependency.
Voila! Emacs now has a PO-mode. It color-highlights & smart-indents the
file. After a few seconds trawling, it seems obvious where to add the
translation strings. In fact the special "PO menu" that appears has all
the nav & edit actions in it.
