The existing Ubuntu team has been too small to set up any kind of
formal process - if a translation is flagged for review (which is not
required), I typically approve it unless it's clearly wrong. Requiring
review of translations would probably be counter-productive while
translation coverage is less than 20%.

However once you have a clear idea of how things are going to be
organised, I can set up appropriate permissions in Launchpad to
support whatever workflow emerges from the team. I can imagine at some
point in the future having new translators go through a review period
for a bit, but really I don't think we need a formal process unless we
have much greater coverage.

What I do beyond basic administrative work is re-package the
translations for upstream once every few months. This spreads the
translations to other distributions and source packages beyond Ubuntu.

Also discussion should take place via the mailing list when possible
(ubuntu-l10n-mi@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) so that new translators can
participate in the discussion. Deciding to use a particular dialect
impacts people beyond your small team including potential new
contributors and teams working on other distributions, so it's
important that there's a public record and a chance for other
contributors to have their viewpoint heard.

Technically we can support multiple dialects, though there's several
hoops to jump through to formalize such things (such as getting
language codes assigned by the appropriate international bodies).

Can I suggest you have your contributors join the translation team as
soon as possible? That way discussions can take place on the mailing
list and any technical questions can be directly addressed.
