[Bug 584872] Re: Step missing under Installing Ubuntu on p. 14
There might be more to this bug than I described above, or another bug
in waiting. My experience of the Live CD is that there is no Welcome
screen on startup--it just boots up in English, totally non-
interactively. However, the explanation page 13 of how to start the Live
CD insists there is a language-choosing step.
I would change a line in my bug report to read:
1) that first you must get the Live CD running, as NOT explained on p.13;

Status in Ubuntu Manual: New
Bug description:
On p. 13 you step the user through running the Live CD, ending with a restart back into their usual operating system. This is great because it teaches that the Live CD is safe and has no effect on the existing system.
Then, on p. 14 you move on to actually installing Ubuntu, from the beginning with a fresh restart. However you leap from restarting the computer straight to choosing a time zone on the world map, missing several important points along the way:
1) that first you must get the Live CD running, as explained on p.13;
2) then you must click on the "Install Ubuntu 10.04" icon on the Desktop;
3) then you must deal with the Welcome screen, choosing your language.
Only at this point does the world map show up, which is where you dived straight in. That would confuse anyone's grandmother.
