[Bug 1228839] Re: Translation

We've updated the glossary entries in a later version of the manual.
They now read:

name={\acronym{GNOME}}, description={\acronym{GNOME} is a popular
desktop environment and was former the default desktop environment used
in Ubuntu.}

name={desktop environment}, description={A generic term to describe a
\acronym{GUI} interface for humans to interact with computers. There are
many desktop environments such as Unity, \acronym{GNOME}, \acronym{KDE},
\acronym{XFCE} and \acronym{LXDE}, to name a few.}

When translating the manual, if you find something that is out of date, please file a bug report (as you've done here) so we can updated in the next edition. Further, feel free to make the corrections in your translation as well. Your translation doesn't need to be a perfect translation of the manual. You can fix any errors you find in your translation so that it's better than the original.

Thanks for this bug report. It's helped us improve future editions of
the manual.

Title:
  Translation

Status in Ubuntu Manual:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
  A few ppl from a Polish translators team would like to translate the
  Manual. The question is, whether it has a sense?

  "name={\acronym{GNOME}}, description={\acronym{GNOME} (which once
  stood for \acronym{GNU} Network Object Model Environment) is the
  default desktop environment used in Ubuntu.}"

  default desktop environment used in Ubuntu?

  "name={desktop environment}, description={A generic term to describe a \acronym{GUI} interface for humans to interact with computers. There are many desktop environments such as \acronym{GNOME}, \acronym{KDE}, \acronym{XFCE} and \acronym{LXDE}, to name a few.}"

  LXDE? Anybody heard about Unity?

  Does anybody update information sometimes? If not translation has no
  sense.
