This is exactly what should be avoided. Personal preference, "I like
this" vs "but I like that" and no good way to decide between different
approaches, if the outcomes are all deemed "good".
So again, you want "professional" results? Set goals. Define audience,
context, tone and message. Decide on the name, sub-title and all other
text. Chose a font or fonts for the inside to have a base for the title
page font(s) decision (use the same or something that corresponds well).
Has there even been a decision on whether to go with US Letter and/or
DIN A 4? This has quite an impact on layout, as the formats do have a
quite noticeably different feel.
Only once all that is place it is time to talk about actual graphic
design.
