I'm just going to jump in here real quick and say some things.

After reading the arguments against including an animal on the title page, I
do say that I have to agree with some. There is no way we can guarantee that
we will always have someone to draw an animal for each release - and when we
begin writing manuals for other variants (Kubuntu/Xubuntu etc) what will we
do then?

The colour scheme of wolter's design I like. The gray/silver is nice, not
too bold or overwhelming. The brown/reds are the Ubuntu colours and we have
to stick with them more or less.

As for the door - I'm not sure if that's really the right way to go. It
looks good, but it doesn't really say enough of what is inside the manual. I
think we need icons like were on show on some of the older proposals.

I also agree with the text font sizes - the 10.04 overpowers everything
else. So, from that, here's what we're going to do:

   - Create a title page with no animal on it
   - Include some icons that show what is inside the manual
   - Design one that uses the "door" metaphor, and one that does not
   - Change the font sizes so that 10.04 doesn't overpower everything else
   - As for translations for the cover - that's undecided. We'll get to
   that.
