I'm not sure if this "needs" to be added to the guide (which is
extremely helpful, by the way), but if your physical computer doesn't
support the virtualization technologies (AMD-V or VT), then you won't be
able to install a 64-bit OS--regardless of whether you're physical
machine has a 64-bit os or not.

For example, my computer is running Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit, and I installed
the amd64 version of VirtualBox. But, since my BIOS doesn't support
AMD-V, I'm only able to install 32-bit guests.

Have a great day:)

Hi guys,
I've been busy the last week as I'm currently visiting the USA. As
discussed at the last meeting, I've put together a short, easy to
follow guide to setting up a virtual machine using Virtualbox on
Ubuntu 12.04. This guide is intended for first time users of
Virtualbox and new members of the Ubuntu Manual Project. It will allow
you the freedom to install the Alpha/Beta versions of Ubuntu in the
future so you can start work on the manual that bit earlier without
affecting any of your machines. Hope you enjoy, let me know if you
think anything should be added to the document, it's available on
Google docs for now. Also, if any of you want editing rights just let
me know.

Thanks, Patrick, that's good to know. I thought most machines these days supported it, we can add it in to let people know but I think most people will install the 32bit version in a vm anyway.
