  I've been able to create an account (gmail) and chat with one my 
contacts.

  There are two problems:
1 - Empathy no longer appears in the messaging icon in the notification 
area like Thunderbird does.
2 - Desktop sharing doesn't seem to work (the option in the right-clic 
menu of a contact is always dimmed.
