Re: Update from Togo: Porto Seguro Project

Paolo,

thank you for your interview and for sharing this informations !

I can find quite a few common points in this experience with mine in
Uganda. In particular, I would like to underline the difficulties of
getting a decent internet connection is a still a big issue all around
Africa (and not only in Africa of course).
Any idea about reducing the digital divide for the developing countries
must keep this in mind; nowadays any operating system needs internet
connection (updates, software installation, etc.). Ubuntu is not
different on this as it strongly relies on net availability; I think it
would be really interesting to evaluate all the ideas about providing
services without a net connection; for example, having a quick and easy
way of setting up an apt repo on an usb drive would we really useful to
setup and mantain an Ubuntu based network.

Ciao,
maurizio

P.S.
Paolo, do you mind if I contact Luigi directly ?
