[Bug 845860] Re: merge-package discussion doesn't discuss coping with quilt
I'll update this based on my recent experience merging packages from
Debian for Precise. I just went through the (rather painful, but
successful) procedure with the bzr/udd guys.

Title:
merge-package discussion doesn't discuss coping with quilt
Status in Ubuntu Packaging Guide:
Triaged
Bug description:
The section on merging from Debian
http://developer.ubuntu.com/packaging/html/udd-merging.html does not
mention how to cope with quilt packages; doing 'quilt pop -a' is
apparently recommended before merging a package using quilt to manage
its patches.
(Except that it doesn't work, doing quilt pop -a first then causes
merge-package to fail because there are local uncommitted changes;
needing to spuriously add commits for unapplying and applying the
quilt series seems bogus to me.)
