Just out of curiosity, why isn't an e-reader a "core app" for Ubuntu Touch?
It may not be a basic function on a phone, but it certainly seems to be a
"must have" for a tablet.  Is there anyone working on this?

The "document viewer" app included in the core apps doesn't seem to fit the
bill, at least according to the specifications given on the web site.
