No, the reason is, that the version of Java is checked and when it is 
not 6 it won't start building. In CyanogenMod this is already fixed with 
the patch [1], but it hasen't been imorted to the phablet branch of 
ubuntu yet, so you'll have to apply it manually or wait, until someone 
commits it.
