​Oh, right: I forgot. I tried some of that too. (In fact it was my comment
on the Ask Ubuntu link you posted which read:

I get "The qmake executable /usr/bin/qmake could not be added: Timeout

(I can see the file /usr/bin/qmake. It's just not happy being added to the
path.)

​However, I don't think I deleted the Trolltech.conf before. So, we'll see
what happens with that.​  Stand by...
