Hi

there currently is a lot of work done to get the content import/export running
https://launchpad.net/content-hub

At the moment you could load images from ~/Pictures
But as Rick Spencer mentioned today for a similar function for the notes-app:
"I don't think your app will be able to access these files due to app 
insulation."
