Depending on which mounting style is used, they should be.
E.g. in the system-image, flipped, style ubuntu rootfs they do exist.
Here [1] is the script that figures out the URL to the latest
system-image tarball which one can use to bring up the device using
same mounting / initramfs-tools-ubuntu-touch mount process as the
nexus devices.
