Landing team 05.04.14

Hey,

Another week, another Monday landing team emails! Multiple images produced over the week-end. With the UK being off today, we didn't get any dogfooding done yet (I think the US timeshift will do some), but we fixed setting up a replacement spreadsheet for the CI infra, got some regressions and fixes! Reads on!

#9:
- new toolkit for tab selection timing fixes and getting a desktop toolbar
- new unity8 to accomodating the tab selection changes, test fixes, overshoot detection in scopes, fix appointment color, fixed clock disappearing in greeter and startup speed improvements
- new file manager release
- new android adbd tools fixes for manta
- A lot of updates and synchronization

#10:
- mostly boost resync with debian

#11:
- other changes from utopic (cups, libjack, make...)

Due to CI infrastructure issue being investigated (multiple results split), we can't trust image #11 test results, however, in addition to the known flaky tests, we discovered two things: * webbrowser apps AP are getting multiple failures after the UITK upgrade in image #9 (see [1]). However, rolling back the toolkit was hard as unity8 was involved as well. Olivier pushed a workaround in webbrowser-app which will be available on image #12. * media-hub is crashing when executing the mediaplayer tests, Oliver and Jim are examinating it.

We are just kicking an image for the webbrowser app fix.

Meanwhile, on the known issues:
** New scopes performance needs to be improved (Kevin for unity8 and Thomas for unity-scopes-shell)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity8/+bug/1297197

** Networking problems related to double-default-routes (Mathieu)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1307981
-> Mathieu is proposing a workaround that will come in lxc-android-config. It will be shortly available in a silo.

** Clock app crashes when trying to access a saved alarm (Thomas S.)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-clock-app/+bug/1309057
-> Should be now fixed, needs more dogfooding tests.

** Unity8 crashing on stop for every tests (Kevin)
The issue is in unity-mir. greyback is on it. Kevin, do we have a bug? What's the status on this?

* Issues not impacting on the user experience:
** qtubuntu crash causing the dialer app to crash (only during tests) (Bill)
From Leo:
-> We still can't use upstart to launch the dialer. Thomi and Michael have landed a couple of branches on autopilot that improve things, but the bug that's affecting us I think is this one: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity8/+bug/1305128. As soon as this is fixed, we will try again to land his branch: https://code.launchpad.net/~boiko/dialer-app/autopilot_upstart <https://code.launchpad.net/%7Eboiko/dialer-app/autopilot_upstart>

** Clock flaky test (Julien, Bill)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-clock-app/+bug/1307458
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-clock-app/+bug/1314533
Best strategy seems to autopilot to capture a screenshot on the phone when there is an error (tracked in https://bugs.launchpad.net/autopilot/+bug/1308762)

** Autopilot test flakyness in test_add_photo (Julien, Bill)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/gallery-app/+bug/1304950
-> A fix is available by Chris, need to be released. Bill can you handle this? https://code.launchpad.net/~chris.gagnon/gallery-app/autopilot-test-cleanup/+merge/216937

** Dialer-app flaky test (Julien, Bill):
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dialer-app/+bug/1307588

** Rss reader flaky test (Julien):
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-rssreader-app/+bug/1314531

Thanks it for today!
Cheers,
Didier
