Even worse, most of the changes are not tightly coupled and could be
left alone, but to be thorough we would revert everything and then let
the respective projects get their stuff back on at their own.

+1, but since it's late, I'll prepare the revert silo anyway. Whether
we'll use it or not - let's see.
The one affected most is telephony, so Bill we'd like your opinion on
which way you want to go.
