Re: Landing team 22.07.14

Hello everyone,

Battles with blocking issues continue. Some of the blockers have been
already fixed, others have fixes ready in staging branches. Manta
devices should now work correctly as #144 included the required branch.
Let's hope that all of these get resolved as soon as possible - as time
is running out. RTM is getting closer, and it would be really good to
have a good test-result baseline for the pre-RTM period that's nearing.
Not to mention an image promotion as well.

Today we have also landed another big release - silo 008 included many
rebuilds of our C++11-enabled projects and their rdeps against the 4.9
toolchain. We have built an image right before the landing (#144) and
are now waiting for all packages to migrate before kicking an image that
will have the 'after' state. The silo has been double-tested by our QA
specialist, but it's good to try being safe anyway.

Let's work hard on getting the situation straightened out till the end
of the week.

Thanks!

* Blocking issues:

** Unity8 non-upstart tests fight for hardware with unity-system-compositor
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity8/+bug/1346819
  -> A newly identified blocker - originally we thought it was related to
other issues, but it seems to be something new. Fix in a MP.

** indicator-location crashing during default, sdk and click_image_tests
tests on smoketesting
https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-location/+bug/1338610
[Time counter 11/7]
  -> Charles and Thomas are looking into this one...

** Reproducible UITK failures on smoketesting
https://bugs.launchpad.net/autopilot/+bug/1328600
  -> Work-around merged into staging

** qmlscene crashed while running test_can_launch_multiple_applications
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qtubuntu/+bug/1329141
  -> CRITICAL! A work-around is prepared and soon merging into staging

** test_go_to_root / home_must_open_the_root / home_directory fails
since mako #132
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-filemanager-app/+bug/1342336
  -> Worked on currently

** test_add_new_event_with_default_values & test_fill_form fail since
mako #137
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-calendar-app/+bug/1343916
  -> Since this failure is reproducible locally and happens all the time
= blocker

* Known issues:

** Twitter Web app doesn't store login cookie
https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity-webapps-twitter/+bug/1346960
  -> Irritating issue, but not much we can do about it, as it's twitter
that caused the change
For the record, I tried forcing the container to store session cookies, but that doesn't solve the issue. I also tried to force the 'remember me' cookie manually in the cookie database, but that doesn't seem to have an effect on the webapp either. Investigations continue to see whether there is a client side way to re-establish the 'remember me' feature which got removed by Twitter recently.
