Message #12971
Bumping required framework version in apps
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
In several of my apps I've implemented things that only work with
framework 15.04. This obviously requires me to bump the framework
version in the mainfest.json file.
The problem now is that if I release such an update to the store, the
old version will disappear for people using the stable release. So far
I've been holding updates back, waiting for 15.04 to be rolled out to
everyone. But this doesn't seem to be a reasonable thing to do in the
future for multiple reasons.
I could probably publish a new app for each framework, but that seems
really dodgy too, given that on every upgrade the users would need to
find and reinstall all their apps instead of just upgrading them.
What is the proposed solution for releasing app updates without
destroying the older version for people that can't upgrade their base
system for whatever reason?
Thanks,
Michael
