Yes, 4G/LTE works on Ubuntu. However, on the Nexus 4, you have to use a
very old radio firmware to enable it, as Google disabled its usage via
firmware update at one point.
I use Ubuntu exclusively on my Nexus 5, and 4G works fine on it.
