Thanks for the thumbs-up. I ordered an Aquaris 4.5 and will give this a
try. Not being able to write japanese (or only using ascii transcript)
will do for the time being. It's just that IME support on Android is
excellent and losing features with an "upgraded" phone feels wrong.
Under all the Android alternatives (Firefox-OS, Tizen), Ubuntu-Phone
still seems to be the software that is closest to getting a japanese IME
(also considering the chances of never even getting a firmware upgrade
for other phones).
If there is something I can do to help with japanese IME support
(beta-testing or otherwise), let me know.
