I've bought a nice case for my MX4. Unfortunately the plastic frame
inside it protrudes about 1 mm above the display, making it very hard to
swipe in from the long edges.
Are there some settings I can change, so that a swipe is recognized even
if the gesture starts about 50 pixels in from the edge?
Sadly, atm there aren't such settings. I agree there should be. Will see
if I can add them any time soon.
Thanks - do you want me to file a feature request?
For now, the best I could offer you is
to make the root file system writable and edit the file
/usr/share/unity8/Shell.qml
On line 109 you will find
property real edgeSize: units.gu(2)
Increase that number in there.
I'll try that. The value is a number of pixels?
But please be *very* careful when editing
this file. If you make a mistake it might cause your device to not boot
any more (so you'd have to reflash).
Thanks for the warning. Hopefully modifying the file will not interfere
with the OTA updates? (I'm on rc-proposed.)

If you think this is too risky,
wait for us to turn this into a setting.
