This is a solid point. This is super high priority level feature these days.

The reasons I had to flash back to my nasty robot OS was:

-microphone issue (seems to be bothering a few people and may be hardware not software problem)
BQ 4.5, GSM sound is crisp on both sides.

-calendar/contact sync (owncloud app seems to now be out and working so this is awesome and fixes it)
It's still in alpha, command line works, app should be available soon.

-wifi sharing (least of priority list above, but very hard to not be able to share with other device)
Hotspot (3G sharing over wifi) works perfectly on BQ 4.5, I use it daily to provide connectivity to my other phone. I would love to see 4G support, and maybe re-sharing wifi, but both are not high on the list.

The rest seems to now be fully in place so I totally agree with this hotspot feature as a 'must have'

Hi All,

I have been using my Nexus 4 with Ubuntu Touch since the early days and it's giving me the minimum I need for my use case.

One feature that has been challenging is internet sharing (aka tethering?). As far as I know Wifi Hotspot is disabled due to undetermined behavior in my device, so I use my phone as gateway by switching the USB driver to rndis instead of mtp when I need it. This kind of works...

Questions:

1. What is the current status and near-term roadmap for USB/Wifi access to the internet using an Ubuntu Touch device as gateway?

2. What's the expected out of the box status of the new Meizu Pro 5 with respect to this?

I'm about to buy a Pro 5 for my father but not being able to share internet access would be a showstopper for him (his only way of getting internet access is using his mobile phone).

Thanks!
Felipe.
