Title:
Let the user choose the wallpaper to be displayed in the login screen
Status in “unity-greeter” package in Ubuntu:
Triaged
Bug description:
This is closed related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/844081 where
Mark Shuttleworth mentioned that the wallpaper is like your public
face in a computer. I agree and like the way how lightdm personalizes
your login screen. However, I feel that this personalization of the
login screen can further be improved.
Instead of lightdm automatically taking the user's wallpaper, the user
could be allowed to choose what wallpaper is shown in the login
screen. This way he can come up with some nice personalization where
the login screen can be used to display his face with some nice text.
This feature would address two requests from the ubuntu community,
1. Privacy is not lost. (user can have any wallpaper he wants) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-greeter/+bug/891563
2. Login screen is personalized with his profile picture (may it be
facebook or google+ or whatever)
One example could be seen in about.me website. Check out this link http://about.me/markdolby imagining lightdm would look like this if implemented.
