[Bug 1449296] Re: Mediascanner throws runtime exception when playing local video file from qml app
This is not really an issue as it doesn't actually affect anything. I'll
be completely refactoring this code in qtubuntu-media when delivering
the full background playlist experience. Marking this as triaged though
just so others can track my progress.
** Also affects: qtubuntu-media (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided

Title:
Mediascanner throws runtime exception when playing local video file
from qml app
Status in QT Ubuntu Media:
New
Status in qtubuntu-media package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
When running the attached app on mako, the following error is produced
Doing a mediascanner lookup of file: "///home/phablet/wth-02.mpg"
Caught runtime exception from mediascanner: Could not find media ///home/phablet/wth-02.mpg
However the application runs just fine on desktop.
Steps to reproduce
1. josh@localmachine:~$ adb push bad_video /home/phablet
2. phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ qmlscene active-app.qml --desktop_file_hint=/usr/share/applications/mediaplayer-app.desktop
Expected results: video plays
Actual results: media scanner cannot find video
Feel free to try running on desktop with
$ qmlscene active-app.qml
and observe expected behavior
