[Bug 1571656] [NEW] MediaPlayer.play() is a blocking call

Public bug reported:

Whenever I play a local track file,  for a small interval my app UI is
blocked. this blockage is probably something between 300-600ms.

I would expect play() call to be super smooth. Need help to debug whats
causing that.
