Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.

I've just checked with fortunes-ubuntu-server version 0.3 [1] on Ubuntu
12.04 and version 0.4 [2] on Ubuntu 14.04. I wonder whether this may
have been resolved when the debian/dirs file was removed as part of the
0.3 release, see [3] for details.

Since the empty directory no longer appears, I'm marking this as fixed.

  Binary package hint: fortunes-ubuntu-server

  The karmic package of fortunes-ubuntu-server contains an empty
  directory /usr/share/games/fortune, which shoudn't be there.

  $ ls -ld /usr/share/games/fortune*
