[Bug 1508504] Re: Network doesn't work
Hi Carlos,
Thanks for looking at this. It is very much appreciated. Proper
network access is very important to me, and probably to a lot of other
Ubuntu phone users.
I can 'test' certain things by using Nautilus on the desktop. If I use
'Connect to Server' there and type in smb://nasbox, it doesn't work,
whereas smb://dylan gives the result I have posted above.
On the phone:
I have tried "unlock full access" and it makes no difference.
Typing in the address smb://dylan (or smb://nasbox) does not give me access to the NAS.
It's possible that changing the program to look for server names instead
of descriptions may be all that is needed.
I will post some more screen shots of File Manager for you to add to the
one I have posted above.
Thanks again,
Tony

Title:
Network doesn't work
Status in Ubuntu File Manager App:
New
Bug description:
Using recently updated File Manager on Aquarius E4.5 which now
includes 'Network' when 'Places' selected.
What happens:
1. Select 'Places'
2. Select 'Network' - shows smb:// (1 file)
3. Select WORKGROUP - shows smb://WORKGROUP (2 files) - listed as
ee
nasbox
3 Select 'nasbox' - shows smb://nasbox (0 files)
Devices are listed by 'description', not their device/server names, which are
BRIGHTBOX2 (my router)
DYLAN (my NAS)
What is expected:
1. selecting 'nasbox' (aka DYLAN) should show 8 folders.
(by comparison with what is shown in Nautilus)
