Problematic entries in the import queue
Hi Aron,
Due to some bugs in our import queue code, it's possible for people with
privileges to break auto-approver. Basically, you were able to stress
test our system into breakage :)
Since you are new to the team, here's a few tips.
If there's already a file in the import queue with exactly the same path
(i.e. ubuntu/karmic/gettext-kde/po/da.po) by the same person but which
hasn't yet been approved, please do not just upload another one until
that one has been approved. Then, if you want to override that entry,
please use the upload form on the PO file directly, so it reuses the
same entry in the queue. Actually, for all single PO file uploads,
please use that form directly. Do not upload multiple files unless
there's a good reason to.
If you don't do this, you break the auto-approver and nothing gets
approved for anyone until we figure the problem out. It takes time and
is hard to debug, so if you don't feel certain about something, please
do not do it without talking to someone first.
Now, don't take this as a deterrent: this is simply because our import
queue admin code was never well polished, and it requires operators to
be extra careful. I am happy to see that you jumped at the opportunity
to fix stuff, but please do it with extra care so we avoid problems as
much as possible.
Cheers,
Danilo
