[Bug 849847] Re: Cleaning up gnome/ubuntu help templates
Thanks for the response. We normally just ship the upstream help, and direct translators to work on it in upstream, because
a, we don't have the infrastructure to properly export them to Ubuntu packages
b, help in general is too big of a work to split translators efforts.
Therfore I'll disable the template, and ask translators to send their
work to the upstream project (and translate ubuntu-help :)).

Title:
Cleaning up gnome/ubuntu help templates
Status in Ubuntu Translations:
Triaged
Bug description:
In Oneiric, we have two sources of help:
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/+source/ubuntu-docs - the Ubuntu specific help, this is in good shape, except that it is set to export translations to langpacks, this has to be disabled.
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/+source/gnome-user-docs - the upstream Gnome help
The latter has now only one directory with help files, gnome-help:
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/oneiric/gnome-user-docs/oneiric/files
so the old user-guide template can be deactivated.
Another question: is there any change left in this package compared to the upstream version? Old Gnome2 docs contained some changes, and in Natty, this template contained a lot of changes, but those were moved for Oneiric to the ubuntu-help package, AFAIK.
So, maybe we could resort to translating only the ubuntu-help package, and ship the gnome-help with upstream translations, which means this template should be deactivated as well.
