[Bug 889351] Re: en_AU translations aren't used

Moving the bug from ubuntu-translations to synaptic, as synaptic is no
longer in main and thus cannot be translated in Ubuntu (but can still be
translated upstream at
https://translations.launchpad.net/synaptic/main/)

** Also affects: synaptic (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
       Status: New

** Project changed: ubuntu-translations => synaptic

** Changed in: synaptic (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Confirmed

** Summary changed:

- en_AU translations aren't used
+ Synaptic does not ship all available translations

** Description changed:

+ It seems that the Synaptic package only ships a subset of the available
+ translations in the code:
+
+ $ sudo apt-get install synaptic
+ $ dpkg -L synaptic | grep synaptic.mo | wc -l
+ 44
+ $ bzr branch lp:synaptic
+ $ cd synaptic
+ $ ls po | grep "\.po\b" | wc -l
+ 111
+
+ This was first noticed using an en_AU locale:
+
  Language is set to English (Australia). Synaptic fails to display en_AU
  translations, such as dialog, organized and Colors

  Should be dialogue, organised and Colours.

  These have been translated months ago --
  https://translations.launchpad.net/synaptic/main/+lang/en_AU
