[Bug 348491] Re: unclear localization files
Is this still an issue? It seems like you're looking in a directory
containing build results. As Piotr mentioned (years ago), Running the
clean target produces:
$ find ./ -name *.pot
./sphinx/locale/sphinx.pot
Also, we're not stripping sphinx translations anymore....
** Changed in: sphinx (Ubuntu)

Title:
unclear localization files
Status in Ubuntu Translations:
Triaged
Status in “sphinx” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Looking into the source package it look like the "sphinx.pot" file is
copied in 3 places . Is this realy required ? It can be confusing for
translators:
sphinx-0.5.1$ find ./ -name *.pot
./build/lib.linux-i686-2.6/sphinx/locale/sphinx.pot
./debian/python-sphinx/usr/share/pyshared/sphinx/locale/sphinx.pot
./sphinx/locale/sphinx.pot
----
Also the package is in main repository so the translations should be
handled by language pack and .mo file should be found in
/usr/share/locale and not in a custom location.
Due to this custom location, the translations made in Rosetta and
included in language packs are copied in /usr/share/locale-langpack
and I don't think that sphynx is reading them from there.
For now I will disable the "./sphinx/locale/sphinx.pot" template for
rosetta until we clarify this problem and we make sure translations
made in Rosetta are used
