[Bug 884784] Re: Include translation .po's in the source?

It's just a matter of changing settings in Launchpad to enable
translations in the upstream project and message sharing with the Ubuntu
source package, which shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

Then decide whether the translations should be automatically committed
to the trunk branch (recommended) or to a separate one and then
periodically merge it back to trunk.

I think it makes sense, and if there is interest from the Unity
developers, I'll be happy to help setting this up.

Title:
Include translation .po's in the source?

Status in Ubuntu Translations:
  Triaged
Status in Unity:
  New
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Would it be possible to include all the translations in the Unity
source package? It would make it so much easier to port to other
distributions (don't need to download all the language packs).

The current packaging ignores those files anyway, so it won't affect
  Ubuntu's packaging of Unity.
