Title:
  Re-use translations in .desktop files

Status in Ubuntu Translations:
  Triaged
Status in “app-install-data-ubuntu” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Currently, desktopize.sh does not care about existing translations in .desktop files, however reusing those would be the expected behaviour. So here is reuse-translations.sh, to generate po files from desktop files.
There is only one problem with it, the sed expression intended to replace \ by \\ does not work, don't know why - this makes the update of ar and he to fail.

For performance reasosns, desktopize.sh should also be modified, as
the "update all po files" part would take ages to complete and it's
unnecessary, given that the files would be uploaded to LP. I'm not
sure however that this is the best solution - what happens if other
distributions want to use g-a-i? :)
