My latest column for Free Software Magazine has just been published.
It's titled "Free software vs. software-as-a-service: Is the GPL too
weak for the Web?". The column looks at the rise of the Web application
- -- including Facebook, Flickr, Google Apps, and the like -- and how to
preserve user freedom in this new environment.

It's a continuation of the rant I gave on the topic at GatorLUG last
year, and at the Florida Linux Show earlier this year.
