Folding at Home - Disease Research & How You Can Help

The folks at Stanford University have the ambitious goal of
understanding protein folding, misfolding, and related diseases.
"Related diseases" include "...Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS,
Huntington's, Parkinson's disease, and many Cancers and cancer-related
syndromes" (from their website).

It takes an incredible amount of processing power to do the research
they're trying to do. But you can help!

By installing some simple software, you can join your fellow Floridian
Ubuntu users who have decided to donate their spare CPU processing
power to Stanford.

The Ubuntu Florida Folding At Home currently has the 2nd ranked
"Ubuntu" team, lagging only behind TeamUbuntu, who has 376 active
members. I still think we can catch them. Set your datacenters to
team 123168 and we'll be there in no time.

Seriously, though. Use those extra CPU cycles for a good cause. Join
the Ubuntu Florida Folding at Home team!

Details on how you can help are below. Let me know if you have any questions.

happy folding,
dan

Setting up folding at home on Ubuntu:

To join the Ubuntu Florida folding at home team, after you install
origami (above), run:
sudo origami install -t 123168 -u <youralias>
(special characters like & or + or % dont work well with the origami
installer, so keep it alphanumeric)
