The Internet Society serves as the secretariat for the Internet Engineering Task Force which develops technical standards for the Internet.

Preparing Cameroon for the future
Started in 2011 with the help of an Internet Society Community Grant
and led by Ndonnang and his colleague Janvier Ngnoulaye, the Impact
IPv6 project focuses on educating students, professional experts and
trainers in the use of the latest Internet protocol.

Pakistan's girls and the future of the local technology industry
With the support of the local Internet Society chapter, 15 community
leaders in villages around Islamabad were prepared as multipliers and
given the tools to educate 20 girls each. Last April 25th, around 300
girls came together to receive their certification after successfully
completing their training.

Internet Society Responds to Reports of the U.S. Government’s
Circumvention of Encryption Technology

The Internet Society is alarmed by continuing reports alleging
systematic United States government efforts to circumvent Internet
security mechanisms. The Internet Society President and CEO, Lynn St.
Amour, said,  “If true, these reports describe government programmes
that undermine the technical foundations of the Internet and are a
fundamental threat to the Internet’s economic, innovative, and social
potential".

Internet Society Board of Trustees Elects New Chair

The Internet Society Board of Trustees seated its new Board and elected
a new Chair, Robert Hinden, at its meeting in Berlin, Germany.
