=== Randall Ross: The Line That Divides ===

Randall Ross summarizes Mark Shuttleworth's recent talk at Mobile
World Congress 2016 and some of the key points to take away from it.
He highlights Mark's graph about societal acceptance of a new idea or
platform. "Successful entrepreneurs and innovators live on the left
side of the vertical line depicted in the graph. The curves on the
chart represent the level of acceptance of an idea (or product) into
society." He highlights Ubuntu's recent step to adopt OpenPOWER. "The
notion of a ragtag group of dreamers taking on a hardware monopoly
seems by most to be "crazy"." He ends by restating Mark's point: "The
answer probably depends on which side of the line you ask."

=== Jorge Castro: Servers at your fingertips... ===

Jorge Castro shows us some features of LXD, a container system. He
demonstrates the deployment of containers for some different Linux
distributions, including Ubuntu. He also points out that the syntax is
easy to remember.

http://www.jorgecastro.org/2016/03/03/servers-at-your-fingertips-dot-dot-dot/

=== Scarlett Clark: Kubuntu: KDE: Where oh where have I been? Busy I say. ===

Scarlett Clark tells us about the work she's been doing recently for
the Kubuntu project. "With the merges we also packaged KDE Frameworks
5.18 Plasma 5.5.4 Applications 15.12.1". She gives information on how
to test the new packages and some known issues that you are likely to
encounter if you plan on testing it.

=== Kubuntu: Kubuntu Packaging Party ===

The Kubuntu team is announcing the Kubuntu Packaging Party that will
take place on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 20:00 UTC. "Above all we're
going to have fun, chat, share knowledge, party and learn new things.
Their will be plenty of us on hand to get you started playing and
experimenting with Kubuntu. Whether this is your first time trying
Kubuntu or you want help with installing, bug fixing, code hacking or
packaging. All are welcome"

=== Scarlett Clark: Kubuntu: KDE: A final call for testers. And yes we
have PIM! ===

Scarlett Clark gives a final call to testers and gives instructions on
how to add the staging PPA. "Do things as you normally do, and report
back any crashes or unexpected behavior."

=== Elizabeth K. Joseph: Xubuntu 16.04 ISO testing tips ===

Xubuntu. She shares details about how to use zsync for downloading the
daily ISOs, using GNOME Disks to put the ISO on a USB stick, and tips
for submitting bugs and reaching out to the community for help. "My
focus is typically on Xubuntu testing, but things I talk about are
applicable to Ubuntu too."

of our fully converged devices," Amrisha Prashar announces the Ubuntu
Convergence Competition. The competition asks: "With this, we want to

=== Converged PC and smartphone is the future, says Canonical's Mark
Shuttleworth ===

Tim Anderson from The Register interviewed Mark Shuttleworth at Mobile
World Congress 2016. "Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Ubuntu, told The
Register that converged devices - phones that can also be PCs - are
the future of personal computing." He highlights Mark's statement,
"People have said that's a little crazy, and now suddenly we've got
some of the biggest companies in the world saying that's a great
idea." Tim then goes on to highlight some of the skepticism from the
technology community about the Ubuntu Phone and some downfalls of
Ubuntu Touch. "For this reason, your next phone is unlikely to run
Ubuntu."

=== Baby Ubuntus toddle forth into the big scary world of beta ===

Scott Gilbertson of The Register notes some of the incoming changes
for the Ubuntu flavors in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus). He
highlights the changes in each flavor and ends with "That's good
advice for any of these releases - this is a beta release, so install
at your own risk."

=== This Is The New Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Default Wallpaper ===

Joey-Elijah Sneddon of OMG! Ubuntu! highlights the new wallpaper for
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus). He also gives a brief description of
the image. "Angular geometric accents are retained, and the design
bathes in a gradient growing across the official Ubuntu color
spectrum. What starts in deep Canonical purple finishes in bright
community orange at the upper-right of the image." He then gives
download links for the new background image.

=== 10 reasons why you should stop picking on Ubuntu Unity ===

Jack Wallen for Tech Republic points out that Unity has received some
criticism in the past that was warranted at the time, but that it has
improved significantly. Jack writes about ten different reasons why
you should consider it again. He highlights convergence, Ubuntu Touch,
eliminated privacy risks, and the new ability to move the launcher. He
ends by saying: "Ubuntu Unity is not the desktop pariah you once
thought it was. This desktop environment has evolved into a beautiful,
efficient interface that does not deserve the scorn and derision
heaped upon it by so many."

http://www.techrepublic.com/article/10-reasons-why-you-should-stop-picking-on-ubuntu-unity/

=== Ubuntu convergence finally impresses me ===

Jack Wallen for Tech Republic points out that he is impressed with the
Ubuntu convergence concept and points out some pros and cons of
convergence and Ubuntu Touch. "I hope this happens. Canonical and the
Ubuntu Phone developers have been working tirelessly on this project
and it needs (nay, deserves) a win of this magnitude."

=== Ubuntu Is Close To Finally Removing Python 2 From Their Desktop ISO ===

Michael Larabel from Phoronix summarizes Barry Warsaw's update and
push to get Python 2 off of the desktop image for Ubuntu. "He explains
that it's in the printer space the cause for still keeping Python 2
around... "system-config-printer is already itself ported to Python 3,
but it transitively depends on Python 2 through the chain of
python3-smbc to libsmbclient to samba-libs to libpython2.7. So the
real problem is fully porting Samba to Python 3. Ubuntu is not the
only distro converging on this bottleneck.""
