On my machine, I can always reproduce this bug -- there is no ibus icon
every time I login to Unity. This bug happens to me some time during the
Oneiric timeframe.

Perhaps this is more a Unity bug rather than ibus's?

For me, I applied the patch in #20 and then ln -s
/usr/share/applications/ibus.desktop /etc/xdg/autostart/, which fixes
the problem without any manual intervention.

@Matt, if you want to see this bug in action, I am happy to show you my
machine during UDS-Q.
