To those who use iBus as the only input method system, and if I
understand it correctly, neither im-switch nor im-config is really
needed. You can just autostart iBus:

$ cat ~/.config/autostart/ibus-daemon.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Name=Start iBus
Comment=Start or restart iBus with the icon safely shown
Type=Application
Exec=ibus-daemon -rx
X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=true
