I assume you’re using the old version of the browser app, in which one
had to long press on an open tab to enter the "close tabs" mode. Long
pressing again on an open tab while in that mode would exit it (not
easily discoverable).

However a new version of the browser app landed last week, with an
entirely new design, and exiting the tabs view is not achieved with an
explicit toolbar button that says "Done".

  When closing tabs one can't exit out of that mode, unless one closes
  all tabs or opens a new one.
