Hi,
I updated the driver to "xserver-xorg-video-ati - 1:6.12.2-0ubuntu1~xup~1 " (and the other packages) with one of the Ubuntu-X-Swat PPA 


The System is still freezing.

For testing I installed  Intrepid Ibex Ubuntu parallel to Ubuntu Jaunty,
this installation is running fine, NO freezes.
