Symptom:

The screen blanks every couple of seconds (at irregular intervals) when
I use it at the highest resolution (1600x1200). It goes off for a second
or two. I am not sure whether the DVI signal really is absent for so
long or whether the screen takes that long to recover.

Configuration:

X-server module: intel (the problem does not occur with fbdev, even at 1600x1200)
Resolution; 1600x1200 (the problem does not occur at 1280x1024).
Strangely enough, X does not set 1600x1200 automatically, although the TFT clearly supports is

This is not related to desktop effects (compiz) etc, blanking does occur
with effects turned off and without any user interaction.

Somehow I wonder whether this is related to a bug related to xrandr, and
KDE interfering with a misdetection of an attached screen. At least I do
get lines saying "DVI monotor detected on HDMI-2" in Xorg.log, although
I think that it really is connected to HDMI-1 (see attached log).

I tried to disable RandR polling in KDE, but am not sure whether this worked (the checkbox in kcontrol that allowed to turn it off in earlier versions of KDE 4 is gone):

I understand this bug report is less clear than it ideally would be, but
I wasn't able to locate the bug more precisely.
