[Bug 379634] Re: the resolution of the monitor has gone from 1280x800 to 1024x768 and the monitor is unknown.

 

Thank you for reporting this bug and helping make ubuntu better. We need some more information to analyze the cause of this problem. Could you please do the following:
1. Add the line 
  Option "ModeDebug" "true"
to the "Device" section of your /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Restart X by logging out and in again. 
2. Attach the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log here (the ModeDebug option gives a lot of useful information in this file).
3. Write the output of `lspci -vvnn` to a file (lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.txt) and attach the file here.
4. Write the output of `xrandr --verbose` to a file and attach the file here.

This is probably the same bug as bug 379605, but while collecting the
information it's best to keep the bugs separate.
