[Bug 380125] [NEW] Ubuntu doesn't detect my monitor

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hello, I am using a NVIDIA Geforce FX5200 graphics card. Without the
restricted driver installed, I get 1024x768 resolution for the monitor,
but it doesn't detect the monitor and I can't have any visual effects.
When I installed the latest restricted driver for my Geforce card and
restarted, my max resolution was only 640x480 I believe, TOO SMALL. I
don't ever recall having this problem on other versions of Ubuntu, this
is quite annoying, I am going to just uninstall Ubuntu until the next
Ubuntu version comes out. This is why I can't fully switch from windows
to linux, linux has so many problems yet. I'm using the latest Ubuntu
9.04.

ProblemType: Bug
