[Bug 379805] Re: [i945gm] virtual >2048 in xorg.conf causes blank white screen on login

I'm going through this bug report to collect the information we need for
upstream. I would like you to do a final test (still with the 2.7.1
driver) and add some more information.

First of all, I would like you to add the following two lines to the "Device" section of your xorg.conf:
  Option "AccelMethod" "UXA"
  Option "ModeDebug" "true"
The first one switches to UXA memory management which will be the only supported mode in the future. This may actually fix your problem, but for the rest of this comment, let's assume it doesn't. The "ModeDebug" option dumps a lot more information about what is going on in the Xorg.0.log file. I would also like you to install the package xorg-xserver-video-intel-dbg which contains debugging tools.
With this done, I would like the following files attached here:
- Xorg.0.log with the Virtual setting commented out
- Xorg.0.log with the Virtual setting active
- When switching to the virtual console with Ctrl-Alt-F1 on the white screen (before restarting gdm), run the command `sudo intel_reg_dumper > ird-whitescreen.txt` which will dump a lot of debugging information about the state of the driver at this point. Please attach the file ird-whitescreen.txt to this bug report.
- xorg.conf with these settings for inclusion in the upstream bug report

Also, for the upstream bug report, which model is your Dell laptop?
