[Bug 377842] Re: artifacts and glitches are painted on the screen by radeon 9200 chipset using opensource ati driver
** Description changed:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati
My system uses an older model of the Radeon 9200 chipset [rev280] which
has a PCI interface and it uses the opensource ati driver [xserver-xorg-
video-ati 1:6.12.1-0ubuntu2]. With the installation of Ubuntu 9.04, I
have noticed artifacts being drawn on the screen in 1) progress bars 2)
conky and 3) some button widgets. These artifacts appear BOTH in the
default "Human" theme and currently in-use "Murrine Blue" theme. I have
enabled in-built compositing in metacity but the problem occurs with or
without compositing enabled [compiz is not in use]. I have not tweaked
the xorg.conf or any graphics settings...they are the ones provided by
the OS.
