[Bug 354864] Re: Firefox freezes on Ubuntu with NVIDIA graphics driver 180 with GeForce 8600 GT
** Description changed:
Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-180
Hi,
I have a laptop DELL XPS 1530, configuration: Processor Inter Core 2 Duo
T8300 2.4 GHz 64bit, Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 128 MB, 3 GB
memory
Used program: Firefox 3.0
Distribution: Ubuntu 8.10
I installed new proprietary NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version
180) and I experienced problems with my Firefox 3.0 which freezes for 30
seconds to 1 minute at different times and websites, then continues
running. When I put full screen on you tube video, the effect for
opening window freezes in the midst of it and after a while unfreezes
and continues on running-the same problem when closing full screen. Also
the Firefox works slower than with NVIDIA driver version 177. Sometimes
Firefox freezes at closing the application, after about 30 seconds the
- program finally closes. When returned back to NVIDIA graphics driver
- version 177 named problems disappeared and Firefox works faster.
+ program finally closes. Ocassionally after closing the application, a
+ random appearance of colored pixels appear on the desktop screen
+ (picture example included in attachment). When returned back to NVIDIA
+ graphics driver version 177 named problems disappeared and Firefox works
+ faster.
The problem is definitively in NVIDIA graphics driver version 180
