[Bug 383407] Re: KMS failed on Lenovo X60s
Hi Amit, I've forwarded this bug upstream to
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22089 - please subscribe to
that bug report in case upstream needs more info or wishes you to test
something. Thanks ahead of time.
This is a weird error, and not consistent with other problems I'm
familiar with. Why is it so hung up regarding the framebuffer? Well, a
few random ideas... I note you're running with no xorg.conf, and I
wonder if you'd get the same problem with the stock xorg.conf (a
somewhat different code path in the xserver is exercised when xorg.conf
is there, vs. when it is absent). There was also a crash when
attempting full screen stuff in the particular -intel version you're
running, that is fixed in the 0ubuntu2 version I uploaded a couple hours
ago; however your symptom doesn't match what that fix fixed so I would
guess it's not going to help, but still would be worth testing just in
case.
** Description changed:
Binary package hint: xorg
I tried enabling KMS on my X60s laptop by creating the appropriate
/etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf file.
On bootup, usplash seemed to be ok, then I could see messages on the
console (console was in hi-res) and when X tried to start the screen
started flashing for a bit before bulletproof X dialog showing "(EE)
Failed to load module "i810" (module does not exist, 0)"
I'll report more info as I play with KMS a bit more.
